Singleholic - Erica Ash and Rotimi Akinosho

An adventure in the spirit of ‘Sex & the City’ and ‘Girls Trip’, Singleholic tells the story of Erica Ash (Sarah Wilcox), a woman who moves to Mauritius to pursue her PhD after a painful breakup with her boyfriend.  While there, she goes on a series of very funny dating encounters only to realise that the key to her happiness is to first be comfortable in her own skin.

The film stars heartthrob and multi-talented, Nigerian-American Olurotimi Akinosho, better known by his stage name Rotimi. The 33-year-old actor, musician, songwriter and model best known for his role in the STARZ hit series ‘Power’ as Andre ‘Dre’ Coleman and ‘Boss’.  His most recent outing was in Eddie Murphy’s ‘Coming 2 America’.

Along with Erica Ash (‘Survivor’s Remorse’, ‘Uncle Drew’), he appears opposite Stephen Bishop (‘Being Mary Jane’), Tyson Beckford (superstar model and actor), Vanessa A. Williams (‘New Jack City’, ‘Soul Food’) and Adrian Martinez (‘Focus’, ‘I Feel Pretty’). In the role of Sam Bishop, he is Sarah’s other romantic love interest, a struggling artist who is studying towards his master’s degree at the same university where Sarah is completing her PhD.

Singleholic - Olurotimi 'Rotimi' Akinosho

Rotimi made his silver screen debut in the film ‘Black Nativity’ (2013). Following this, he starred in ‘Imperial Dreams’ at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival which later won for Best of NEXT. His next film appearance was in the high grossing film, ‘Divergent’ (2014). In 2016, he acted in the movie ‘Deuces’ alongside Lance Gross and Larenz Tate. Most recently, he appeared in the 2021 romcom ‘Coming 2 America’.

Beyond his on-screen persona, Rotimi blends contemporary R&B with vintage Afrobeat and Jamaican Dancehall. He has developed his own smooth sound after growing up listening to the likes of global influences Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, and Lauryn Hill. His role in the hugely popular ‘Power’ led to his hit single ‘In My Bed’ featuring Wale going viral on TikTok in 2020. The song is off his ‘The Beauty Of Becoming EP’.

Following the success of ‘In My Bed’, which earned him his first Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) gold certification, the star signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Empire Music. In August 2021, he released his debut album ‘All or Nothing’, which coincided with the announcement of the much-anticipated remake of the 1990 cult comedy ‘House Party’, which will premiere on HBO Max.

In 2015, 50 Cent signed Rotimi to his label, G-Unit Records. He also released his first G-Unit single ‘Lotto’ featuring 50 Cent. In 2016, Rotimi released ‘Doin it’, a single from his 5-track project, Summer Bangerz. In 2017 he released his first debut EP called ‘Jeep Music Vol.1’.

Previously, he released two digital mixtapes, ‘The Resume’ (2011) and ‘While You Wait’ (2011). His videos have been featured on international entertainment media including MTV, MTV Base, and VH1 Soul. Rotimi has performed on stage, opening for Jennifer Hudson, T.I., Estelle, and NERD. He also performed on BET’s show ‘106 and Park’ and appeared in R&B singer Keyshia Cole’s music video ‘Trust and Believe’.

‘Singleholic’ is produced by Milan Selassie and is based on the novel by the same name from English author Katherine Bing.  Bryan Barber served as the director. This film was shot in Mauritius.
